The Brazilian Congress of International Law has been held uninterruptedly for 15 years, always counting on the support of the most important institutions of research and higher education in Brazil. According to the Brazilian Academy of International Law (ABDI in portuguese), "The event is the most important and expressive in the area of international law in Brazil and one of the biggest events in the field of law in the world." This year, the event was held in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, from August 30 to September 2, 2017, with the presence of Professor Jamile Bergamaschine Mata Diz.
The theme was "International Law and its transdisciplinarity", counting on the presence of several Brazilian and foreign internationalists, professors, researchers and diplomatic authorities.

The IV Meeting of the Research Network "Integration, State and Governance" took place at the European University of Lisbon on 21 and 22 October 2016. The theme of the meeting was "Towards a New Europe: Social Cohesion and Sustainable Development for the Deepening of Integration" and it counted with the presence of 14 lecturers, such as professor Carlos Carlos Molina del Pozo, Professor Roberto Correia da Silva Gomes Caldas, Professor Liliana Bertoni, Professor Elizabeth Accioly, Professor Jamile Bergamaschine Mata Diz, Professor Carla Volpini Ribeiro Silva, Professor Katelyn Gonczy, Commander Chief Gonçalo Souza, among others. The discussions were divided into three main groups: economic and social cohesion; policies and strategies of economic, social and territorial cohesion for sustainable development and EU economic governance. The Research Network "Integration, State and Governance", created in a partnership between Jean Monnet Chair UFMG and several other institutions (such as UniCeub, UNINOVE, Homa, University of Itaúna and UNISINOS), had the pleasure to present one of the thematic panels the 14th Brazilian Congress of International Law from International Law Academy in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul. The table had the presence of illustrious professors Roberto Gomes Caldas, Carlos Simões, Manoela Roland, Alice Silva, Anderson Teixeira and Jamile Bergamaschine Mata Diz (director of the Jean Monnet Chair UFMG).
ABOUT THE CONGRESS:
The CBDI - Brazilian International Law Congress is held uninterruptedly since 2003, during the last 14 years, always under the auspices of the most important institutions of higher education and research in Brazil. The event, every year, is hosted by a different state, having passed through Paraná (Curitiba and Foz do Iguaçu), Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Ceará and now reaches the Rio Grande do Sul, in charismatic city of Gramado.
The event is the most important and significant in the area of international law in Brazil and one of the biggest events in Brazil in the field of law.
In Congress, expose the most important internationalists from Brazil, diplomatic authorities, foreign teachers as well as teachers, researchers and young students, training more than a generation of internationalists bright in the country, with impacts on international doctrinal formation and the production of research in Brazil.

The IV Meeting of the Research Network "Integration, State and Governance" will take place in Lisbon on the 20th and 21st of October, 2016. Among the confirmed speakers are Professor Roberto Caldas, of the University Nove de Julho, in São Paulo, and Professor Roberto Cippitani, from the Università di Perugia, Italy. Professor Roberto Caldas is a great collaborator of UFMG Jean Monnet Chair Programme and has a PhD in Administrative Law from PUC-SP, which gives him ample expertise about the governance issue. Professor Cippitani has a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in Perugia, which studies extensively various issues relating to the Law of Integration, especially in interface with new technologies.
The event will feature several national and international teachers who will give lectures on various topics related to the Law of Integration, Governance and how these phenomena affect the traditional concept of State. The target audience are teachers and students of the European University of Lisbon, a prestigious institution that has been a major contributor to the UFMG Jean Monnet Chair Programme in the spread of the Integration Law studies. One of the event's goals is to continue and give greater visibility to the initiatives of the research network "Integration, State and Governance", as the observatory of public policy, which was designed in partnership by several of the universities organizing the meeting.
About the Research Network
The Research Network "Integration, State and Governance", created in 2016, has already held two meetings, hosted by UniCEUB and UNINOVE on the 6th of May and 15 August, respectively. Both meetings were attended by national and international speakers who promoted a rich dialogue on relevant and current issues, such as state, Fundamental Rights and Constitutionalism. In all, the two meetings had twelve speakers, and more information on both can be found in previous posts.
The III Meeting will be held within the 14th International Congress of Law International Law of the Brazilian International Law Association (ABDI). The Congress, which is the most important and significant of Brazil in the international law area, will take place in Gramado, between August 31st and September 3rd, 2016. One of the panels, which will take place on Thursday at 15:30, will have the title "Integration, State and Governance", since it will be promoted by the Research Network. In this panel, the teachers Roberto Caldas, Jamile Mata Diz, Carlos Simões, Alice Rocha Silva, Anderson Teixeira and Manoela Roland will utter lectures on topics related to the studies of the Research Network. The IV Meeting, to which this post is dedicated, will take place in October (20th and 21st) in Lisbon, and has several renowned Brazilian institutions in its organization. In the Organizing Committee we have the presence of distinguished professors such as Eduardo Vera-Cruz Pinto, Elizabeth Accioly and Jamile Mata Diz. The meeting, once again, has as its objective the dissemination of important ideas about the themes of Integration Law, the concept of the state and governance, and will strengthen the internationalization of their studies, taking the teachings of several Brazilian professors to the capital of Portugal.
CALL FOR PAPERS:
The Research Network "Integration, State and Governance" summons all teachers, researchers, students, professionals from the field of law and international relations for the selection process of drafts and papers to be presented at the Fourth Meeting of the Research Network "Integration, State and Governance, which will be hosted by the European University of Lisbon, Portugal, on the 20th and 21st of August 2016, and carried out by the following institutions: European University of Lisbon, University of Perugia, UNINOVE, UniCEUB, UNISINOS University of Itaúna and Federal University of Minas Gerais.
Proposals must be submitted by September 15th, 2016. The prospect that one expects to find in the articles is the treatment of current and relevant issues, especially those related to the multiple conceptions of State, interpreted in the light of Integration Law and Governance. It is expected that the article is reflective, not descriptive or monographic, and brings some new contribution to the fields of the selected theme. For selective bibliography, it is expected that the author goes beyond the obviousness of manuals and, when cited, should be the basis for the construction of the author's thesis, which must go beyond the simple repetition of already put ideas.
The author must send his(hers) abstract until September 15th, which must included:
2) topics to be developed;
3) explanation in two or three paragraphs of the topic;
4) selective bibliography that will be used on the subject;
5) keywords in the article and research line in which it is inserted;
6) identification of the author with relevant information in a maximum of 2 lines (masters student, master, doctor and institution in which they teach or represent).
Graduate or undergraduate student’s papers will not be accepted and articles coauthored may have a maximum of 03 (three) authors. Each author may submit a maximum of 02 (two) articles for presentation at the event.
The works selected for the meeting will be confirmed on September 30th, 2016, and this ensures the presentations of the paper at the event and confirmation of their inclusion in the program. The author will then have until October 10th, 2016 to send the definitive article, in this case, whole text with intellectual articulation, citations, logical construction, consistency, with abstract in English and procedural standards. The article can not exceed 30 pages with bibliography. Articles with less than 10 pages with bibliography will not be accepted. The following information shall appear on all works: title; author identification; abstract in English; development topics; conclusion and bibliography.
