The Jean Monnet UFMG Chair, represented by Professor Jamile Bergamaschine Mata Diz, participated on the 16th and 17th of October at the BNDES Seminar on "Regional Development, Infrastructure and Cohesion - The Experience of the European Union and South America". The event dealt with themes such as cohesion funds, the role of banks in fostering integration and cohesion, development cooperation and energy integration. The UFMG Jean Monnet Chair was represented by Professor Jamile Bergamaschine Mata Diz in the Public Ministry’s Week 2017, in the panel: "Environment, Human Rights and Equality". In the same panel were the coordinator of the Operational Support Center of the Justice Advocates for Environmental Defense (Caoma), Andressa de Oliveira Lanchotti; and the prosecutor of the Public Ministry of Bahia, Cristina Seixas Graça.
Professor Jamile Bergamaschine stressed the importance of effective social cohesion for the protection of the environment in the European Union, recalling how much the continent suffers with climate and social changes. In addition, she pointed out that since countries are small, the environmental problems of one member quickly influence the other, making the need for solidarity among countries even more pressing.
The Brazilian Congress of International Law has been held uninterruptedly for 15 years, always counting on the support of the most important institutions of research and higher education in Brazil. According to the Brazilian Academy of International Law (ABDI in portuguese), "The event is the most important and expressive in the area of international law in Brazil and one of the biggest events in the field of law in the world." This year, the event was held in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, from August 30 to September 2, 2017, with the presence of Professor Jamile Bergamaschine Mata Diz.
The theme was "International Law and its transdisciplinarity", counting on the presence of several Brazilian and foreign internationalists, professors, researchers and diplomatic authorities.

During the CONBRADEC 2017, Brazilian Congress of Law and Citizenship, a panel of the "Research Network on Integration, State and Governance" was held, with Professor Jamile Bergamaschine Mata Diz taking part. CONBRADEC 2017 took place at UNICURITIBA between June 8 and 10. The theme of the panel revolved around the Law of Integration and International Law, with the presence of: Alice Rocha (UniCEUB), Roberto Caldas (UNINOVE), Elizabeth Accioly (European University of Lisbon), Liliana Bertoni (UBA), Deilton Ribeiro (ITU), Wagner Menezes (USP), Anderson Vichinkeski (Unisinos) and Jonathan Barros Vita (ESA - PB).
Some students oriented by the teacher Jamile Bergamaschine (Júlia Vilela, Rodrigo Tadeu Jales and Sofia Neto Oliveira) were also interviewed by the organizers of the event.
The Third Seminar on Academic Cooperation was held at UNINOVE on May 25, 2017 with the theme: "State, Development and Effectiveness of Justice". More than a dozen professors and legal professionals attended the event that was organized by the Research Network “Integration, State and Governance” and had the collaboration of the Jean Monnet Chair UFMG.
